Connect, relax, and network at our symposium’s social events!
When: Tuesday July 7th
Departure time: The bus leaves at 1 pm from the conference venue to Franeker, and you
will be handed a packed lunch.
Activities: Divided into 4 groups, we will take turns doing the 2 activities listed below.
Refreshments and snacks will be available through the day.
Visit to the Eise Eisinga Planetarium
Try Kaatsen: Friesland’s Traditional Ball Game or wander the streets of charming Franeker, one of the eleven historical cities of Friesland.
Departure time: The bus leaves at 5.45 from Franeker back to Groningen
Dinner: 7pm, Rooftop dinner at NOK (Forum Groningen, Nieuwe Markt 1, 9712 KN, Groningen). The restaurant is located on top of the Forum, in the center of Groningen, and
with a unique view over Groningen at night. It is also possible to attend only the dinner.
Conference Dinner
When: Wednesday July 8th
For those of you that join the conference dinner at the Coendersborg (Coendershaag 1, 9722 LS Groningen, https://maps.app.goo.gl/pZBHyUm9MSiqgoQG8) on Wednesday, 8th July, from 19:00 to 22:00. It is a great opportunity to meet fellow participants in a nice park setting.
During the evening, we will also host a pub quiz in teams, so get ready enjoy some friendly competition
Getting there
● By bike (recommended): For the full Dutch experience, we encourage you to rent a bike at your hotel and cycle to Coendersborg. It is an easy and enjoyable ride.
● By taxi or Uber: A taxi or Uber from the city center takes approximately 15 minutes.
● By public transport: Take bus number 50 from Groningen Central Station [departure time: 18.36, Platform S] and get off at [bus stop: Groningen, v. K. Verschuurlaan]. From there, it is a 6-minute walk to Coendersborg.
